Experience nature up-close at Tarkiln Bayou State Park. See exotic plants including the carnivorous white-top pitcher plant, which is unique to the Gulf Coast and found only between the Apalachicola and Mississippi rivers.
Almost 100 other rare plants and animals depend on the wet prairie habitat, including the alligator snapping turtle, sweet pitcher plant and Chapman's butterwort. A boardwalk offers visitors a view of the wild and beautiful Tarkiln Bayou. Visitors can enjoy a picnic and then take a hike on the nature trails to observe the rare plants and animals.
Traveler Tips: For a more adventurous outing, visitors can take a day-hike across the park to the Perdido Bay.
There's a lot more to do in and around Perdido Key than just enjoying our beautiful Gulf of Mexico and dazzling white sandy beaches. No matter what season you visit, you'll find a long list of fun adventures waiting to be had, from live music to art festivals to baby animal zoo adventures to outlet shopping, Blue Angels, exploring history, golfing, fishing, stargazing, nature trails, kayaking...the list is endless!
